Lego Universe Free to Try

If you’ve been curious about LEGO universe, the brick-based MMO that hit shelves not too long ago, you’ll be exceptionally pleased to know that you can now explore the first two regions of the game for the princely sum of… nothing. That’s right – it’s free, and there’s no level cap, just a geographic one.
It’s certainly an interesting concept for a game, though it does call into question its appeal when put next to the non-MMO-but-still-amazing Minecraft, another block-building game that excels in its world, feel and game mechanics. But LEGO Universe is another step towards integrating old media into new forms, and it’s worth a shot if you loved LEGO as a child.
For those who know little about LEGO Universe, it’s an MMO set in a world created entirely to showcase the little plastic bricks and other odds and ends. You can fight, build, and team up with friends, and whether you’re into Free Realms or http://www.partypoker.fr/ is more your thing, for the price of no dollars this is a bargain even if you’re just passing the time on a slow weekend.
You can also search for Imagination – a vital resource that inspires the creativity found within the world, and discover the endless customisable items, not to mention your own avatar. It sounds a little kiddish, but that’s because it is – the Friend system also includes “Best Friends,” real-life, parent-verified friends children can play online with.
Like Free Realms, it’s a far cry from the hardcore, more adult universe of EVE Online or World of Warcraft, but its universal LEGO appeal might just draw you in, so give it a shot and come tell us what you think.
