The Secret of Monkey Island – Special Edition on Xbox360

A special edition of The Secret of Monkey Island might be on its way to the Xbox 360 is the indications made by the unexplained disappearance of the German rating and by sources close to Adventure Gamers. We heard of this through GamerBytes whose suspicions were raised after they were able to snatch a copy of the German listing before it was mysteriously taken out of the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle website.
Gamerbytes saw The Secret of Monkey Island – Special Edition listed as the Xbox 360 and the European publishing arms for Lucas Arts, Activision Blizzard Deutschland GmbH as publisher.
According to adventure game website Adventure Gamers independent sources have already attested to the existence of the project to them, and that plans for revealing it during E3 2009 in two weeks have been made.
I wonder what special edition means. Will it be a total revision of the HD remake, or just the original title stretched and refined? Is it going to be a full on Xbox 360 retail release or an Arcade title, or a full on Xbox 360 retail release? Are these mere speculations?
If it’s really slated to be a big E3 revelation the chances of getting an official confirmation before the event is nil but inquiries have been sent to LucasArts and Microsoft just the same.
If the speculations turn out to be unfounded then somebody needs to start working on it pronto. We need to reach the whole brood of gamers who doesn’t even know that a game like this exists.
