Slime Time June 09

After months of rumors, delays, and even an announcement that questioned whether or not the game would even make it store shelves at all, Ghostbusters: The Video Game seems to be back on track and heading for an early June 09 release. I think I speak for Ghostbusters fans everywhere when I say that I this may be one of my most anticipated games of all time.
Having grown up in the early 80’s, I have been a diehard Ghostbusters fan for over 2 decades. As a kid I had bins full of action figures, walls covered in posters, and I have dawned a tan jumpsuit for no less than 3 Halloween parties. No matter where I’ve settled down over the years, Ghostbusters 1 and 2 have remained ever present in my TV stand DVD drawer. Never packed away in boxes, those 2 titles will forever be readily available for easy viewing.
You could imagine my excitement when I heard that there would be a new GB title for the first time in nearly 25 years. As the June release draws near, more and more screen shots are beginning to surface and even a trailer has been released by Atari that could just as easily have been a trailer for the 3rd feature length film.
As far as game play is concerned, players assume the role of a rookie 5th Ghostbuster. Joined by the movie cast (Voiced by original actors Murray, Ramis, Akroyd, and Hudson), you cruise New York City while learning the basics of paranormal investigation and elimination. The games cut scenes and voice acting are and it seems that a great effort has been made to keep this game as true to films as possible.
Though there have been few details released as of this time, the game also will feature a multi-player mode that will allow you to play online with friends in a variety of different games. I for one will certainly be in line on the release day for this title, an act that I have not partaken in for quite some time. There’s simply something about this franchise that will forever hold a special place in my heart. I just hope this game can live up to my and many other diehard fans high expectations.
