The Next Tony Hawk Should be More Authentic

Tony Hawk in an interview with CNET explained how he enjoys taking part in the development process of his games and has this to say: “I don’t want to say we’re starting from zero, but we are rebuilding the whole game, so I’m back to being fully immersed at every step of the way so I can make sure it’s authentic when it comes out.” “Authentic” was thrown around a few times in the interview, and Hawk says imitating skateboarding is “the most important thing to me.”

When asked about the iPhone’s accelerometer, he had this to say: “we’re going to incorporate that technology into our next game,” but the game will be for console and not the iPhone.

There has been talks of motion controls for months, and can be tracked back as far as last year. Still no word as to which console the game will be releasing for so they could be secretly planning to use the Wii Balance Board for their games or make their own peripheral for the Xbox360 or PS3. All this aims towards one thing: Realism which seems to be his new focus for his games.

I personally prefer SKATE, but I look forward to seeing what Hawk can come up with to go against the soon to relase SKATE 2.
