Operation: Anchorage; the first of three packs of DLC content set to hit the PC and Xbox 360 Version (no word on PS3 yet) of Fallout 3 has some interesting details. Thanks to the folks over at IGN we’ve had the chance to find out the back story and how it’ll all play out after you’ve spent the $10 and downloaded the pack.Join us after the jump for some great news. According to Jeff Gardener,
In Operation: Anchorage the player will find themselves able to re-live the famous liberation of Anchorage from Fallout lore — inside a simulation similar to one found along the main quest of Fallout 3. Once the player finds their way into the simulation, they’ll be stripped of their resources and have to survive within the rules set up by the simulation’s creators.
The Chinese red army is everywhere, and the player will first have to secure the surrounding mountain side and then fight their way into the Chinese base. The player will have to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that will only be available in the downloadable content. These include interactive Strike Teams under the player’s command and unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets.
More content from the game with already too much for the common man. Well its not a bad thing at all really. If you’re someone who has hardly touched on the the game and are still working your way through, you at least know that wherever you manage to get to the end there is something waiting for you and for those who are at the end now you’ve got relive the invasion of Alaska to some degree.
As soon as it on your 360 or PC you’ll be greeted by a new map marker and objective for you to travel to and enjoy. Also good to know is that you’ll be able to take part in this DLC at any level as long as you’re out of the damn Vault that is. Another great thing about Operation: Anchorage is that you’ll not only 4-5 hour side quest to take part in but you’ll also be getting new weapons, armor, perks, and achievements.
One last great thing about this wave of DLC is that the last of the 3 will be dropping another quest, more weapons, armor, perks enemies and (and this is key now) increase the level cap beyond 20 as well as let you play past the ending of the game. Sweat damn deal huh? Take a look at a few of these screens borrowed from the folks at IGN. Enjoy!
