Blizzard Closing Down Pirate Servers

Play WoW on a Pirated server? Not for much longer. Blizzard has been cracking down on “private servers” and sending the owners a “Copyright DMCA Notice” (Pretty much close down the server or get sued). With this new turn of events many of the popular private WoW servers have been closing down over night without notice. Your favorite server could be next.
Here is a post from the popular Vioku giving their statement regarding the issue at hand.
OK, so by now.. most of you should be probably aware of what’s going on..
But for those that don’t, I’ll make it simple.. “Blizzard Entertainment” have sent us a “copyright dmca notice” with a take down request, which needs to be done within 24/hours (btw 12 hours passed already). This isn’t a joke obviously, and to protect our asses we’ve decided to take the server down and cooperate with Blizzard on this request.. Is obviously that we don’t want to go jail for a game!So here’s what we’re going to do (I won’t go into too much details): Our servers will remain closed until further notice, but is most likely that we’ll close our doors to World of Warcraft permanently.. This however, does not mean that is the end to our community and future ideas, after all.. our goal was to make Aniwow one of the best private servers by January.. remember that? Well, it might be an impossible task now that everything has turn down into us, but remember.. it’s never the end to something that received a lot of dedication (at least to my own personal rules), that being said.. there’s a second chapter coming up… no one never knows.

LOL, I love how you morons on “pirated servers” are saying: “OMG, all the people who pay for WoW are spoiled rich kids and 12 year old noobs”. If you’re not willing to pay the monthly fee, what makes you willing to pay for an actual game? I bet all these people who complain about this are those who pirate all their games off pirate websites. Look, what do you think was going to happen? You guys are playing a pirated(FREE) copy of a game illegally on private servers.

You are all ridiculous. Private servers are a horrible representation of what wow is supposed to be. On most private servers you have a bunch of geared out noobs that think they are cool. Things never work properly, and they are generally more of a pain in the ass than anything else.
If you cant afford the 15 dollars a month then dont play. We dont care there is 10 million of us that pay to play and we enjoy it. We enjoy that we can count on the fact that our characters and items will always be there, things will run smooth and no one has an unfair advantage.
STFU and get over it. If you want to play the real wow pay for it, quit crying because you wouldnt know what to do if you had to earn you gear the real way. Noobs all of ya,

this is a fucking joke… i have a private server with like 50 – 100 players and i didnt get anything from blizzard … private servers cant be closed ..think about counter strike , anyway if they close private servers ppl will continue playing in LAN or using hamachi and so on.

TO all you fucking morons who hate blizz for closing private servers i say this: you are all fucking noob morons. Facts are simple : blizz made the game they have all rights reserved. If you don’t have 15$ a month then YOU DON’T PLAY. Would love to play retail and I can afford it.
But I dont like the community there. Most people are very rude
and call you noob when you ask a question.
On blizzlike-private servers, where less people are,
there are a lot of helpful and kind people who always greet you and are nice to you.
I know there are people like this on retail too, ofcourse there are. But from what I have seen, most of them are just a bunch of assholes.
If those people change their atitudes, I leave private server and go play on retail.

To the posters who complain that they can’t afford to pay to play…. I would love to have a nice house, a Ferrari, enough money in the bank so I don’t have to drag my arse out of bed in the morning at 6AM to pay for what I do have… You can’t expect to get what everything you want for free…

The people badmouthing people who play on Private servers clearly have no idea what you are talking about. There are a LOT of decent private servers out there. Sure buggy here an there, but most definately playable.
All you guys are doing is defending your (mindless?)paying for a game. You are defending the company who robs you of subscription fees. You sit and do the math on how much Blizzard makes per MONTH on fees alone per player. You’d ask yourself if charging for the client itself isn’t enough? Some people can’t afford $15 a month. RL does stuff sometimes and you would still like to enjoy the game.
If retail really was THAT much better than private servers you would have no reason to shoot your mouths off here about it. If anything I have seen private servers bring MUCH more players in from switching to retail than the retarded 14-day trial crap has.

There are people who can’t afford 15 dollars a month, lets face it. And that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be able to have an option to play WoW for free, no matter what “horrible representation” it is. Retail has millions of players that won’t leave there precious virtual blizzard stuff. Why should blizzard care about the private servers? That is called “going cheap”. Hoping that it will attract new retail players. Pathetic. I will be laughing when WoW will go free in the next 5 years with rediculous options for f2p users. Pathetic. Yes, they’ve earned it. For the ”blizzard” players – why do you all thing that some of us are playing private servers because we don’t have money ? If I want to be a NO LIFE RETARD LIKE YOU I would give my money to blizzard and spend hours and hours leveling my char which is just a waste of time.I play pservers to have fun – Instant level 80 servers , some other fun servers or servers where you level with 20x or 30x exp rate ( haha 20 times faster than you) etc.Oh yeah , and btw you can be a donor on the private servers giving 50$,100$ or even 1000-2000$ to get crazy items . So , to make all clear you blizz morrons – private servers are made to have some fun , not to spend your life leveling a char and saying OMG HE KILED ME , IWONT GO TO SCHUL UNTIL I GET A PVP GEAR AND PWN HIM hahahah . I would like to see more comments.

Hahahahahahhahaha, I can either choose to play the game and buy 300 bucks worth of shit, or I can download it, and play it for free. Same shit, nothing different, except faster ticket answering and funnier chat. I had retail, nut wuickly changed to free cause the 15 buck charge got annoying, then a new expansion for 60 bucks, then another one, then another one, and now another one with wow 4? fuck man
