Possible Pokémon Gold & Silver Remake for Nintendo DS?

A possibly fake scan has been circulated all around the internet getting every Pokémon fanatic’s attention. It’s a scan featuring two box art covers exposing what looks to be a Pokémon Gold & Silver version remake for the Nintendo DS. Though I’m sure many fans were excited to see this scan there has still been no confirmation on a possible remake. Other sources indicate that GameFreak (Developers of The Pokémon video game series) has bought the rights to the names Dusk Gold & Dawn Silver. Although the Idea doesn’t seem so unlikely there’s still no solid proof.
Pokémon Recap
In the latest Pokémon versions (Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum) a new migration system was installed where Pokémon could be transferred from any of the GameBoy Advance games such as: Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald. This addition was necessary for those devoted trainers who wished to stay true to the Pokémon motto and set a goal to try a catch em’ all. There was no other way to have a complete roster of all the Pokémon without this migration system. With the remakes of Pokémon Red & Blue Version, titled Fire Red & Leaf Green, for the GBA, one could capture Pokémon from both Kanto and Johto regions just like in the previous GameBoy releases except now transfers to ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald or even directly to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were possible. Transfers from GameBoy to GBA were impossible due to an unbalanced Pokémon stat system. Outside of Pokémon migrating ,Game Freak Utilized the GBA slot even further by allowing players to insert their old GBA Pokémon games to manipulate the appearances of certain Pokémon in areas that were unattainable otherwise. So there was now a way to virtually capture every Pokémon up to date, Outside of Pokémon conventions featuring event specific Pokémon.
Nintendo DSi & Pokémon
On November 1, 2008 in Japan, Nintendo released their latest version of the DS lite; the Nintendo DSi. With a Variety of Modifications added, one that stood out to many Nintendo fans was that it will no longer support GBA cartridges. This did not sit well in the Pokémon community. Though it’s new features and new looks were appealing to most, this would create a huge inconvenience to most Pokémon fans. Pokémon Migration would be impossible. It would benefit fans more to keep holding on to their Nintendo DS lite while the migration system was functional. Many believe that the Nintendo DSi’s lack of Support for GBA is what brewed rumors and fake scans on remakes of Pokémon Gold & Silver for DS, making it easier for players to trade Pokémon from previous regions without having to migrate them. This would also pose as a problem to players who rely on their GBA games to try and transfer or capture certain types that can’t be attained any other way.
Poke Rap-up
With all the facts weighed, it’s safe to say that a remake of Gold & Silver would be a lovely addition to the Pokémon series. Me being a fan, I would personally like to see a remake of these two classics. I have tons of fond memories with these games but I’m also careful to keep my feet on the ground and not having my hopes set too high for something that, deep down inside, we all know might not happen. For those who wish to add any insight on the rumors please feel free to comment and add any other information regarding Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver. We can all agree that rumor or not, the idea of a remake isn’t so Farfetched. =)

What i can’t understand is why Nintendo havn’t released an “Ultimate” Pokemon game, y’know, where you’d be free to go to all the regions, catch EVERY Pokemon in the game, compete in all the different regional gyms and tournaments.
That game would sell more than any other game made to date (Including GTA: IV). Nintendo is sitting on top of a gold mine, this is the biggest franchise they own, yet they don’t really seem to care………….

I’ll have to agree with David. Nintendo can make a grand pokemon game. From Kanto to Sinnoh would be so much fun not to mention the idea of Pokemon online. Not to stray off topic, i honestly hope for this to be true Johto was me favorite of all the regions where most of my favorite pokemon come from.

Well you see that would mean less sales. If there was an ultimate game it would be hard for other Pokemon games to sell as that Ultimate one would always be better.

i think even tho an ultimate edition would be welcomedgrately. the thought of it outselling fair point but remember trading from previous games would possibly be needed and more regions would be created anyway. plus the game is set in regions so there could be easilly alot of these created to make up the actual pokemon world. if there was an ultimate pokemon game i would deffinitly buy it. plus could be called pokemon rainbow (just a name i thot of but considering the names mentioned in previous games this would suite it to the ground). lets just hoppe the game makers create this the ultimate game with everythin it would be the highest selling game plus with the 4 regions of kanto johto hoen and sinnh this could be classed a country then other regions another country then creating more regions till u get a pokemon world then why stop there u could expand into space or other planets with space pokemon like the cleffairy and solrock and lunatone making appearance as legendaries with evolved forms the whole game is continuios and could possibly be extended beond an ultimate game with the 4 main regions. all anticipate a 4 region release lets hope they deliver. plus if theres a god pokemon gotta have a devil or evil pokemon. the final battle between good and evil this is the ideas the creators should have but obviously there holding back. thnx for reading

well first off the games are actually based on the manga for the
pokemon games(name from anime->name from manga)Ash->Red, Gary->Blue, Girl in FR/LG->Green, A girl with yellow hair w/ a straw hat(not mentioned in the game)->Yellow, Jimmy->Gold, Jimmy’s rival(red headed dude)->Silver, Marina->Crystal, Brandon->Ruby, May->Sapphire, A guy with orange funky hair(not mentioned in the game)->Emerald ,Lucas->Diamond, Lucas’ friend/rival->Pear, and Dawn->Lady Berlitz(Platinum?) so think about it..

I would love for a remake of any, gold or silver. it would be awesome to go back with all the good looking sprites and 3d rendering of pokemon diamond and pearl. It would make those second generation types easily obtainable. Especially considering that i only have a few second generation types in my diamond file.

I’m a big pokemon fan but seem to be missing a few pokemon if anyone can be so kind as to trade a few of these to me that’ll be great =D. I’m missing a chikorita,totodile, & Cyndaquil and a few legendaries that i never really worried about until recently but those i can worry about later. If any one can trade me these three you guys are awesome. I too will try and trade something back that you might need.

I would love a remake of silver and gold. I think they should do a remake of crystal as well. Crystal was my all time favorite.

a master game sounds great but will they do it. the best thing they can do is remake the silver and gold series that was my favorite of all time apart from diamond and pearl. being Australian means that if this occurs you Americans will get the game 6 months before us. in diamond and pearl i have caught 416 pokemon that was very difficult to do

that’s exactly what i was thinking except you can get all the event pokemon without having to go somewhere like new york to get pokemon like mew, lugia, darkrai or even arceus and THEN it would be the ultimate pokemon game.

i really want an ultimate game with all regions would be great. i think tht a pokemon game called pokemon champions should be made where u challenge every region and become number 1 in the pokemon world then train to be a proffesor thn the game ends with age effects like start off at say 11years old then age to become a smart proffesor of pokemon knowledge after becoming champion of regions. remember proffesr oak was a trainer b4 being a proffesor. or become champion of regions then a pokemon ranger with knowledge of being a champion then a proffesor investigating a new region then catch an ultimate legendry or sae one then game ends where u give out the starter pokemon this would giv way for a new game as u being the trainer who got the starter from u guessed it urself wen u were proffesor then u save the whole of pokemon again ready for battle. this would be an idea hope a massive game comes out tho. thnx

I also think a remake of gold and silver would be great and also the ultimate pokemon game, but instead of starting in kanto you could choose which region to start in, i would choose jhoto(my favorite region which is another reason why i want the remake) anyways i just wanted to say that after the remake of gold and silver they would make a remake of ruby and sapphire,COOL!

5 months ago, and this is now confirmed, Gamefreak did indeed buy the rights to the names ‘Dusk Gold’ and ‘Dawn Silver’. Since then, also confirmed, FAKE scans of FAKE CoroCoro magazines in Japan have been leaked to the public causing uproar and inevitably forcing Nintendo, Gamefreak, and The Pokemon Company into a corner which they can never get out of. 2 Months ago, REAL scans were leaked by a worker on the upcoming games Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver. The worker was fired and Gamefreak now has had to confirm the release of 3 upcoming Pokemon games set to be released in the, as they said, ‘Near Future’. Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver were confirmed to be 2 of the coming games, but the third name for the third game to be released was never revealed. 1 Month ago, CoroCoro revealed, with full permission from Nintendo, Gamefreak, and The Pokemon Company, a couple of REAL scans were revealed of Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver, one of these is the scan shown above on the page. The other showed a picture from inside Prof. Elm’s Lab. Previously, scans of the SAME 2 pictures had been all over the web. Nintendo fixed this problem by saying “We actually used the two pictures since they had become so popular around the internet. The scans shown before ours were sent out, when translated into English, made no sense and were actually complete gibberish with random letters all over the page that spelled absolutely nothing in the English language.” The third game as mentioned above didn’t have it’s name revealed but Gamefreak gave a hint that it would NOT be on the the Nintendo DS platform. So, Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver have been confirmed and the third game is unconfirmed but is thought to be a remake of Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness for the Wii since Pokemon Battle Revolution sold so badly and had bad reviews by most of the public. I hope this brings everyone who wanted a remake’s spirits up, because Dusk Gold and Dawn Silver are being made. The release date has not been revealed however, but it is thought to be sometime later this year or in early 2010 in Japan

i would also like to see a ultimate game but its easy for us to want one and then for them to make one,, it would be hard working the lvls throughout the game as you travel to other regions, the idea of starting in you favorite regions is an excelent idea… but would still love to see you one..
As for Remakes of rainbow and sliver i believe they will make one and will be enjoyed by all pokemon lovers

My very first videogame was pikemon gold that I got when I was a wee lad. Gold silver and crystal are still the funest ones, because you can go back to Kanto after beating the elite four, and there is just so much to offer! I have never since then got a game that was funner. Yeah, diamond was awsome but ruby and saphire were dissapointments in my opinion. I would LOVE a re-make!!!

personally i think what they should do is come up with a password system like in the old GBC games the legend of zelda oracle of seasons and ages
then you can beat one pokemon game
get the password
enter it in the next pokemon game
and you have all the pokemon from the previous game but the levels are at were u obtained the pokemon at
but you cannot transfer legendaries
you go to events for that
and you cannot put pokemon that you dont have the right badge for in your party
and no trading from previous games
thats my idea of the “master” game

one reason of why they will not make a super pokemon game is because that would basically end the gaming series for them. that means no more new pokemon(thank you) and no more story lines. this might also end the pokemon series, which i dont watch but for the youngsters it might make them sad. but for now i hope they do make a remake for silver/gold/ crystal. those were my all time favorite pokemon games

some of you guys have great ideas of making a big pokemon game haveing all the pokemon in one game and you can go around the whole regions …..but the thing is The Pokemon company are holding back of those great ideas because of poke~fans.why i said that is because..now think…they are a company and companys dont like getting sued..people as been coming up with great ideas and the company are afraid to come up with one idea of there own but that fan had already came up with that and if they make the game..that fan will say”hey now i thought of that and wrote it on a web site…so you guys have to pay me”.The company cant pay someon that does work for them..so they are afraid

I hope that this whole Pokemon Gold / Silver remakes are real because if they aren’t I would be very disappointed with all this. Gold version was the first pokemon game I’ve ever gotten and ever liked till this date I still enjoy playing it, so many great memories well I would enjoy a Ultimate pokemon game cuase it will take you longer time to pass the game and will make it much more fun well I’ll still keep my hopes up for all these anticipated remakes and stuff, I would prefer a million times buy a remake of Johto than platinum.

you kno what would suck?…..if they came out with a new CONSUEL! it would proll b impossible for us to move our pokemon…just a horrible unlikely thought. cuz what wuld happen to the dsi network? the only change i want for that badboi is a wicked flash player…id buy it be4 it would hop on the self! and az for the ultimate game eghk…i totally agree with mr./hugh (lol) what woud u do wen that game iz beat i myself love the way there going now ill just keep tradeing charm (my umbreon”s nick

Yeah, so they totally confirmed these remakes today! I’m stoked! I tried to play my Silver version the other day, and it’s totally fucked. These couldn’t be released soon enough!

i think that the ultimate game would have to be a game where you could create your own regions and your own pokemon and such you could create your own moves too and gym battles and outfits and such, your own gym badges, your own hms and your own story. and it would all be So simple to make. you could mix match elements of every single game, every single region, pokemon and every other detail you want until it’s person. a full on ultimate pokemon RPG!
