Video Game Review: Gears of War 2

With gears of war 2, the word “better” comes to mind often. almost every aspect of the game is better than the original. the single-player campaign is longer, has more variety in its objectives, the scale of the levels and the battles within are bigger, even your AI partners go out of their way to revive you and each other. the co-op has also been improved, no longer does the game kick you back to the title srcreen when someone leaves your game (an annoyance of the first game) and because of the improved AI, scenes where you split up are less frustrating since NPCs can revive you and your co-op partner. the story on the other hand is no better than the first, possibly even worse because of its unsatisfying ending, unanswered questions and moments that are unbelievable even for gears’ universe. the multiplayer has been improved significantly with a many new modes and fixes to the original. horde is a five player cooperative survival mode where you fight waves upon waves of enemies, increasing in numbers and difficulty. you can play with bots in the versus modes, good for when you don’t have enough people to play with. you can now easily play ranked games with your friends, thanks to the new party and matchmaking system. overall the game just feels better, there’s no reason to go back to the first game.
